Polish Embassy Disavows Bielecki Attack on Jewish Congress

The Polish Embassy declared in a statement today that the recent speech of Tadeusz Bielecki, National Democratic member of the Polish National Council in Angers, France, in which he attacked the American Jewish Congress and World Jewish Congress, did not represent the Polish Government’s views. The Embassy statement follows:

“A recent statement in the London Jewish press regarding a speech delivered at the sitting of the Polish National Council in Paris by Mr. Bielecki, member of the Council, has evoked certain adverse comments. It is pointed out in this connection that Mr. Bielecki spoke, according to his statement, on his own behalf, and not in that of the political party to which he belongs, and that the National Council, constituting at present the Polish Parliament and being a democratic institution, naturally does not interfere with the free expression of personal views. On the other hand the Polish Government’s attitude in questions pertaining to the Polish Jewry is very friendly and has been the subject of well known and repeated statements by members of the Cabinet.”
