The Nazi authorities in Bohemia-Moravia have ordered the burning of 3,000,000 books, including those showing “Jewish tendencies,” the newspaper Le Petit Parisien reported today.
An order has gone out to all public libraries, book shops and publishing houses in the Protectorate to burn not only books of pronounced Czechoslovak nationalist views, including the works of former President Eduard Benes, and those with anti-German tendencies, but also all “books with Jewish, Freemason, Marxist or Panslavic tendencies.”
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
