A slump on the Bourse and panic among Rumanian Jews was reported in a Sucharest dispatch to the Daily Telegraph today following announcement that Jews would be barred from admission to the Party of the Nation. The ban, which has the effect of barring Jews from public office, professions and executive posts in business, was feared to be a prelude to further curtailment of their rights.

Business circles feared that if the Government adopts further anti-Jewish measures a collapse will ensue such as that which marked the brief life of the anti-Semitic Goga regime. The Telegraph dispatch reported that a big restaurant in Bucharest usually thronged with business men was empty, indicating that Jews considered it prudent to keep indoors.
