The curator of the Mosque of Omar has registered a formal protest with High Commissioner Sir Harold Alfred MacMichael against the hope expressed to Premier Benito Mussolini by 30 Italian bishops that the Italian banner would be hoisted over the Holy Land.

“In behalf of every Moslem interested in the affairs and safety of the Mosque of Omar,” the protest said, “we denounce through Your Excellency these evil intentions and emphasize to His Majesty’s Government the readiness of Moslems to sacrifice themselves in the defense of the Moslem Holy Places.”
