A Berlin dispatch of the United Press today quoted the German press as stating that the French Parliament would vote itself out of existence on Wednesday and clear the way for establishment of a French Fascist state on the model of Italy and Germany.

A Geneva dispatch of the Associated Press said the press in unoccupied France had carried reports that Marshal Henri Philippe Petain would be “Chief of State” in the new regime like General Franco in Spain, with a triumvirate of Vice-Premier Pierre Laval, General Maxime Weygand and Minister of Interior Adrien Marquet ruling the country under Petain’s titular leadership.
