Heads of the new Immigration Department set up under the Justice Department will be called before the House Immigration Committee to “iron out” differences in opinion regarding the handling of aliens, Chairman Samuel Dickstein announced today following a conference with President Roosevelt.

Dickstein discussed alien control policies with the President and indicated that the President concurred with his plan to have the new Immigration Department officials appear before the committee.

Dickstein intimated that there now are some differences of opinion between his committee and the Immigration Department as to the proper approach to alien control and that these differences will have to be ironed out. He said: “There is only one way to handle the question and that is to get rid of the bad aliens and leave the good aliens alone.”

The new immigration heads will be called in to testify as soon as Democratic Committee members return from the Democratic convention, Dickstein said.
