Marshal Henri Philippe Petain, French Chief of State, has signed a decree removing Georges Lebeau as Governor – General of Algiers, the German wireless reported from Vichy today, adding: ” It is understood that Lebeau had close Jewish relations and that this change had something to do therewith.”
