Palestine Jewish Council Reaffirms Support of Britain; Adopts Large Budget

The Asefath Hanivcharim (Jewish National Assembly), holding its eighth extraordinary session, today adopted a budget for the coming year providing for 1480,000 income and 1170,000 expenditures for Jewish security, health, educational, social service and other activities.

The anticipated income includes 140,000 in regular taxes, 1120,000 in emergency taxes, L130,000 in Government grants, and 154,000 from the Jewish Agency for Palestine. Expenditures include 1180,000 for education, 1175,000 for social welfare, 123,000 for passive defense.

The Assembly issued a proclamation supporting the British Empire in its struggle against “destructive forces” and declaring that the Jewish community was ready to back up Britain’s fight.
