Moses Gelber, Canadian Zionist, Dead at 84

Moses Gelber, woolen merchant, philanthropist and Zionist leader, died last night at his home at the age of 64. Funeral services will be held Thursday.

One of the founders of the Canadian Zionist Organization, Gelber was its vice-president for 10 years and was honorary vice-president at the time of his death. He was one of the organizers of the Toronto Federation of Jewish Philanthropies in 1916, a member of the executive committee of the Canadian Jewish Congress and was chairman of the committee which built the Toronto Hebrew Free School and Jewish Center in 1922.
