Resolutions urging creation of a "World Jewish National Committee, a Jewish national army and a Jewish state in Palestine were adopted by the convention of the New Zionist Organization of America, held from Dec. 29 to 31 at the Jabotinsky Center, it was announced today.
A resolution asked establishment of a world committee as "the best form of national unity during the war." It blamed the leadership of the World Zionist Organization for "the continued strife in Zionism" and declared that "while we are still ready for the establishment of a united Jewish front, the initiative from now on should come from the other side."
Other resolutions welcomed transfer of world NZO headquarters to the United States, endorsed the leadership of President Roosevelt in national defense, asked international assistance for large-scale Jewish immigration into Palestine and urged "the civilized states" to afford the Jews temporary asylum.
Elias Ginsburg was elected president and a national council was named with Col. Morris J. Mendelsohn as chairman and including Dr. Morris M. Rose, Prof. Johann Smertenko, Mordecai Danzis, J. Spektor, Rabbi J. Katz and Prof. Benjamin Akzin.
