The Emergency Committee for Zionist Affairs has decided to enlarge its scope by establishing Public Relations and Economic departments, it was announced today. The committee also decided to enlarge its membership by adding two additional representatives from each of the four affiliated bodies — the Zionist Organization of America, Hadassah, Poale Zion and Mizrachi.

The Public Relations Department will have the cooperation of Emanuel Neumann as adviser on political affairs. “Through the collaboration and participation of all existing Zionist organizations it is intended to launch a widespread activity to enlighten public opinion on Zionist aspirations and enlist public support for Zionist aims,” it was stated.

The Economic Commission, headed by Robert Szold, was authorized to establish a special department headed by Rehabiah Lewin-Epstein to “deal with Palestine economic problems of an emergency character arising out of the war.”

Administration of the Emergency Committee’s affairs will be entrusted to an office committee and a presidium. The presidium includes Dr. Stephen S. Wise, Louis Lipsky and Szold. Dr. Nahum Goldmann, member of the World Zionist Executive, is cooperating with the committee. Arthur Lourie, of the Political Department of the London Executive, is serving as secretary of the Emergency Committee.
