Ignacy Schwartzbart, Jewish member of the Polish National Council, told a press conference today that his attitude towards the exiled Polish Government was one of “vigilant confidence.” He said that after a year’s experience in the National Council he was imbued with realistic optimism.

Schwartzbart stressed the necessity for full representation for Polish Jews and urged the Bundists and Revisionists to cooperate. Referring to the recent Polish Government declaration of equality of Jews and Poles, he said this statement by implication condemned the policy of Polish governments for the past 20 years.

The Polish Government has granted the same recognition to the Tel Aviv Association of Jewish Refugee Lawyers from Poland as was given to non-Jewish Polish refugees recently arrived in Palestine from Rumania, it was announced today, following intervention of Schwartzbart. The association has 37 members.
