The Gestapo intends to build up the case of Herschel Grynszpan, assassin of a German Embassy official in Paris in 1939, into a trial of “international Jewry,” according to German reports current in Vichy today.
The trial will not be held until after the war, it was said, and the Gestapo will attempt to show that there was a “Jewish-Masonic conspiracy” to assassinate many high Nazi leaders. The Nazi-inspired report said that a “confession” had been obtained from young Grynszpan after two months’ examination in Germany which would implicate many important Jews. The name of Mayor LaGuardia of New York was also mentioned in connection with the case.
