Creation of a central body to control Rumania’s economic and financial life, having broad powers relating to execution of the Antonescu Government’s anti-Jewish policy, was announced today over the Bucharest radio.
The new body will be known as the “Center of Romanization.” While it is charged with regulation of the nation’s economic structure, one of the Center’s first responsibilities will be to deal with all matters connected with expropriation of Jews and their replacement in industrial and commercial enterprises. The Jews were largely responsible for developing the nation’s industrial and commercial life.
The Center will shortly issue a series of decrees putting into effect the Antonescu regime’s anti-Semitic legislation, it was stated.
Meanwhile, the Bucharest radio announced a decree banning Jews from the cereal trade.
