Governor O’Connor joined Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog of Palestine yesterday in declaring that Jewish teachings would withstand the attacks of their enemies. They addressed 2,000 persons attending the ground-breaking ceremony of the new building of Ner Israel Rabbinical College.
Rabbi Herzog, who is leaving by plane for Palestine on May 20, asserted that Israel would remain the eternal people, despite present persecution in many parts of the world. Governor O’Connor said that the Jews’ courage would prove victorious over Hitler and other enemies of the Jews. Mayor Howard Jackson was among the other speakers.
