Home Secretary Herbert Morrison informed the Rev. R. S. Sorensen in Commons that any general policy of allowing detained persons to marry would give rise to difficulties. Hard cases might sometimes arise, said Morrison, but he thought the general rule must be that deprivation of liberty involved deprivation of liberty to marry.

The British Council has decided to include within the scope of its activities the spreading of British culture and knowledge about Great Britain among the refugees in this country, including enemy alien internees. The Regional Commissioner of the British Council in Liverpool is to organize in the Isle of Man, on behalf of the Council, classes and lectures for the interned aliens.
