Palestine Extends Entry Certificates; Students Rallied for Farm Work

The Government has extended to Oct. 21 the validity of immigration certificates and authorizations issued from April 1, it was announced today. The action was taken by the Commissioner of Migration on the request of the Jewish Agency.

Because of the labor shortage in settlements, Jewish institutions have appealed to school and university students for mobilisation for agricultural work. So far more than 2,000 have volunteered for harvesting and other work.

Jewish and Arab cadets who have completed the third officers’ training course were given a reception in Tel Aviv by the Soldiers Welfare Committee. Moshe Shertok spoke in Hebrew and Arabic, expressing hope for continuation of close relations between Jewish and Arab cadets.
