Waiting for a tram, a Jewish girl hardly of school age sat on a bench at the stop for two minutes. She was arrested and sent to a concentration camp. The bench was labelled “For Aryans Only.” The incident is related by The Daily Mirror Lisbon correspondent in a report from Vienna.

An old Jewish woman was fined 500 marks for the same offense. All benches in streets and parks are reserved for “Aryans.”

Letters written from Vienna to Jews in Poland have been returned marked: “It is not allowed to write to Jews abroad.”
