A plea in behalf of the Marcantonio bill to prevent discrimination by firms working on national defense contracts against American workers of foreign birth and their native born American children was made before the House Judiciary Committee today by Abner Green, educational and legislative director of the American Committee for the Protection of the Foreign Born. Rev. Owen A. Knox of Detroit, Chairman of the National Federation for Constitutional Liberties also spoke in support of the measure.
The bill before the Committee, introduced by Representative Vito Marcantonio of New York would prohibit “discrimination against persons employed or seeking employment on government contracts because of race, color or creed.”
