Sympathetic consideration of requests on the part of non-immigrant aliens, (visitors) for permission to accept employment will be accorded to applicants for such permits, the Department of Justice today informed the Washington office of the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society.

Non-immigrant aliens are not permitted to accept employment unless they first obtain permission to do so from the Department of Justice. In view of the fact that the longer non-immigrants remain here the closer they approach financial exhaustion and the greater is the need for them to be gainfully employed the matter was discussed by the Washington representative of HIAS with the Justice Department. To expedite action upon applications, a form of a special affidavit, which may be modified as the case may warrant, has been prepared.
