Jews in Nazi Poland Urged to Be “strong and Resolute” in Schwartzbart Broadcast

A direct radio broadcast to the Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland assuring them that their “ghetto walls will crumble” and that they will yet see “victory rise over the shambles of Germany,” was given here last night over the B.B.C. station by Dr. Ignacy Schwartzbart, Jewish member of the Polish National Council. The broadcast was made on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Nazi invasion of Poland, and was the first Jewish broadcast on the B.B.C. Polish service.

Dr. Schwartzbart told the Jews of Poland to stand united in their sufferings with the Polish people and fight with all Poles for a liberated democratic Poland. He informed them of the various pledges made by the Polish Government-in-exile that Jews in post-war Poland will enjoy equal right under equal obligations, and told them of the tens of thousands of Jews who have joined the Polish army in Soviet Russia.
