A three-point “charter of liberty” for Jews all over the world is proposed today in an editorial in the Polish Jewish Observer, a new supplement of the City and East London Observer.
Pointing out that there is no mention of Jews in the Atlantic Charter drawn up by President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill at their mid-ocean meeting last summer, the paper suggests: 1. Full and complete equality for Jews in cultural, political and economic spheres; 2. Anti-Semitism be made a crime; and 3. Free access to Palestine for Jews.
The Dziennik Polski, official organ of the Polish government-in-exile, today scored M. Mackiewicz, well-known Polish journalist, for his anti-Sikorski attacks, in which he struck an anti-Semitic note. Mackiewicz alleged that the Polish government was exclusively interested in locating Dr. Moses Schorr and Dr. Emil Sommerstein in Russia, and neglected others who were not Jewish. Answering Mackiewicz, the official Polish organ states that efforts are being made to liberate all prisoners, regardless of race, creed or political opinion.
It was announced here today that Rabbi Sorotkin of Tel Aviv, and Dr. Levin of New York have been nominated by the Agudas Israel for inclusion in the Polish National Council, when it is reconstituted.
