The Joint Foreign Committee of the Board of Deputies of British Jews has approached the British government, at the request of the American Jewish Committee, in connection with organizing aid for the Falashas, the Ethiopian Jews, many of whom were barred from their occupations and had their property confiscated during the Italian occupation of the country.
At the same time that this was announced by Prof. Selig Brodetsky, Chairman of the Board of Deputies, at a meeting of the group today, he stated that a course of action has been taken to meet the new situation created by America’s entry into the war. Commenting on this last point Levi Bakstansky, British Zionist leader, stressed the great work of American Jewry both in the period before the American declaration of war and since then.
