Dr. Israel Goldstein was elected last night president of the Synagogue Council of America succeeding Dr. Max Arzt of the Jewish Theological Seminary, who resigned. The Council is composed of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, Rabbinical Council of America, Union of American Hebrew Congregations, Central Conference of American Rabbis, United Synagogue of America and Rabbinical Assembly of America.
