A number of Jewish sisterhoods throughout the country have converted the social rooms of their synagogues into temporary emergency hospitals equipped with cots, linens and blankets, it was reported here today to the National Headquarters of Civilian Defense by Mrs. Samuel Spegel, national president of the Women’s League of the United Synagogues of America.

Giving an account of the work in which the 400 sisterhoods of this organization are actively engaged, the report points out that many of these sisterhoods are located in towns where there is extensive war industry. From West coast to East coast sisterhoods have reported the establishment of authorized units of the Red Cross in their own buildings.
