U.S. Senator Barbour Lauds Heroism of Jewish Soldiers in Address at Seder

“The record made by the boys of Jewish faith in the last World War is unquestionably one of heroism and bravery,” Senator Warren Barbour of New Jersey declared last night speaking at a Seder held in the local Y.M.H.A. here for 250 Jewish soldiers home on leave for the Passover period.

Stressing that the number of Jews in the United States’ armed forces during the last war greatly exceeded the proportion of Jews in the general population, Senator Barbour warned that anti-democratic and anti-Semitic propaganda aimed at spreading the falsehood that Jews did not participate in the war in proportion to their numbers was nevertheless being disseminated. Stating that “we must rid our house of the enemy within,” he emphasized that we are now at war to establish Liberty once and for all, for all Americans, white, colored, Jew and Christian.
