Social Justice, anti-Semitic magazine founded by Father Charles E. Coughlin, has suspended publication, it was announced here today when its publishers failed to appear this morning at a hearing to determine whether the second-class mailing privileges of the Coughlin organ should be revoked.
A letter from E. Perrin Schwartz, nominal editor of Social Justice, was read into the minutes of the hearing, informing Postmaster General Walker that publication of the anti-Semitic weekly will be discontinued. A communication from Coughlin said that he approved Mr. Schwartz’s action in suspending the publication.
None of the publishers of Social Justice appeared at today’s hearing despite the fact that it was expected that either the Detroit priest or his counsel would appear since he recently accepted full responsibility for the policies of the magazine, which he said was owned by his parents.
