A violent explosion of undetermined origin virtually destroyed the engine room of the Eden Cinema here shortly before dawn this morning. The theatre, one of the largest in Jerusalem, is located in the heart of the Jewish section of the city. It is estimated that damages will total nearly $5,000. Police are investigating the blast.

No vessel of any size – even a rowboat – may now approach within three kilometres of any point on the Palestine coast without first pausing for inspection by the coastal patrol, the Palestine government announced in the Official Gazette today. This new restriction on shipping is believed to be motivated by recent pro-Axis espionage activity in Palestine.
