1.40 Jews Imprisoned in Slovakia for Anti-nazi Activities; 130 Jews Arrested in Budapest

Nazi radio stations today announced that 140 Jewish men and women in the Nazi puppet-state of Slovakia have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment ranging from two months to twelve years on the charge that they conducted anti-Nazi activities in Bratislava, the Slovak capital. Meanwhile, house to house searches for Jews seeking to escape deportation continue throughout Slovakia, the Bratislava radio reported today.

More than 130 Jews were arrested last night in Budapest during a raid by the Hungarian police on one of the Budapest coffee-houses frequented by Jews.
