Jews in Palestine were warned today against both “exaggerated optimism and pessimism” in articles published by the entire Hebrew press. Expressing satisfaction over the fact that the Nazi army has been forced to retreat on the Egyptian front, the Hebrew newspapers call upon Palestine Jewry to do their utmost for the war effort and to do it immediately.

The Arab-language broadcast from Italy directed to the Arabs in Palestine, Syria, Egypt and Iraq today announced the formation by the Axis powers of an Arab Legion which, according to the Axis broadcast, will be sent to the Near Eastern front “to fight side by side with the German and Italian troops in North Africa.”
