Food shipments to the ghettos of German-occupied countries “where hundreds of thousands of Jews are starving to death” were urged today by several of the speakers addressing a mass-meeting in Trafalgar Square, called to ask the Allied governments to send food to Belgium, Poland, Greece and other occupied nations.
Meanwhile, it was learned today that the Board of Deputies of British Jews, which met in closed session this week, has authorised a commission to arrange the details of expending b3,000 monthly to purchase an estimated 1,000 food parcels to be sent to the Polish ghettos. Shipment of such parcels awaits final clearance with the British Government and the International Red Cross.
