Chief Rabbi Joseph H. Hortz and Viscount Cecil were today elected president and chairman respectively of the United Appeal launched by the Federation of Jewish Relief Organizations in England, the Polish-Jewish Refugee Fund, the orthodox Keren Hatorah, the Jewish Religious Emergency Council, and other Jewish relief groups, for the purpose of raising $200,000 for Jewish war refugees in Russia and in other countries.

Chief Rabbi Hertz today announced the postponement of the Day of Protest Against Nazi Atrocities which was scheduled to have taken place throughout all Jewish communities in England on August 23. The postponement was taken to allow more time for the effort now being made by the chief rabbi to unite all organizations for participation in the manifestation.
