A call to all members of the Fascist party to denounce any Italian “who is lacking the courage to break with Jews” was issued in Trieste by Pietro Piva, the federal secretary of the party.

“The Jewish problem in Italy is not alarming because it is subject to the vigilance of our party, but certain Italians lack racial feelings and frequently act as shields for Jews. It is against these Italians that we must act,” Piva’s order states.
