Hundreds of workers, Red Army men, collective farmers, doctors, writers and artists jammed the Uzbek Theatre of Opera and Ballet here at a meeting marking the first anniversary of the formation of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee, which has its headquarters in Kuibyshev. Twenty thousand rubles were donated by the gathering to the fund to purchase 1,000 tanks and 500 bombers as a “Jewish gift” for the Red Army.
