Willkie Will Receive American Hebrew Medal for Promoting Good-will

Wendell L.Willkie has been declared the 1942 American Hebrew Medal recipient for the promotion of better understanding between Christian and Jew in America, it was announced here today by Joseph H. Biben, Editor and Publisher of The American Hebrew. The 1940 Republican Presidential candidate was selected by a group of sixty-five prominent Americans of the three faiths.

“The presentation of the medal in December will be a recognition of Wendell L. Willkie’s contribution to the services of his country in this day of grave national crisis, particularly for his continuous contribution to the cause of oppressed minorities,” Mr. Biben said. Former recipients of the medal include President Roosevelt, Myron C. Taylor, Cordell Hull and Arturo Toscanini.
