The 1942 Combined Jewish Appeal of the Associated Jewish Philanthropies and the United Jewish Appeal here announced at a Victory Dinner last night that it had raised a total of $1,271,000, topping all other years.
With additional funds still to come in from some outlying sections of Greater Boston, it is expected that the quota of $1,258,000 will be exceeded by approximately $50,000. Israel Friedlander, general campaign chairman, announced that a minimum total of $1,300,000 will be reached. Speakers at the Victory Dinner were Mr. Louis E. Kirstein, president of the Associated Jewish Philanthropies, Dr. B. M. Selekman, executive vice-chairman of the 1942 Combined Jewish Appeal and Mr. Friedlander, who presided.
