Jews in Algeria who were not permitted to serve in the armed forces under the Vichy anti-Jewish laws are now being summoned for military service under the present mobilization of man power in North Africa.
Abrogating the anti-Semitic legislation, the authorities in Algeria yesterday ordered all Jews who reached the age of twenty in 1938 or 1939 to immediately report for military duty. Officers and specialists of all ages are similarly being summoned for immediate service.
