A statement from the underground movement in Poland protesting against the Nazi mass-murder of Jews in occupied Polish territory was made public here today. “We Catholic Poles do not want to remain silent on the Nazi massacres of Jews,” the statement reads. “We cannot save anyone, but we can strongly protest, and we are, therefore, transmitting our protest to the outside world as Catholics and as Poles.”
A protest meeting against the Nazi decimation of Jews in Europe was held here last night addressed by Jan Stansozyk, Polish Minister for Social Welfare. The meeting was arranged by the orthodox Agudas Israel organization.
Leaders of the World Jewish Congress here today revealed that they have approached the British Government as well as the Soviet Ambassador Ivan Maiski with concrete proposals regarding reprisals for the Nazi slaughter of Jews. The nature of the proposals cannot be divulged at present, they stated.
