The German population in the British-bombed cities of Cologne, Bremen, Rostock, Luebeck and Essen is condemned in the Nazi press because many of them believe that the bombing of their cities is “God’s punishment for the brutal handling of Jews”
The Stuttgart Nazi newspaper “Hakenkreuz Banner” which reached here today urges the launching of a special propaganda campaign “to prove to the German people that the ritish air attacks on the German cities have nothing to do with the burning down of the synagogues in those cities.” The paper points out that these “pious Germans” apparently still maintain friendly feelings towards Jews.
