Chief Rabbi Herzog today began a country-wide tour to stimulate the enlistment of orthodox Jewish youth in Palestine in the British armed forces.
The Chief Rabbi advocates the establishment of special Jewish orthodox units in the armed forces along the same line as those established in the special police forces. This would give Jewish orthodox soldiers the opportunity to observe Jewish religious laws without having the army training interfere with their observances.
