Hon. Herman Hoffman, chairman of the board of directors of the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi League and president of the New York County Criminal Courts Bar Association, today demanded that the American Bar Association immediately reverse its position in refusing to admit to membership Francis E. Rivers, Assistant District Attorney of New York County and leading Negro lawyer. “I have valued my membership in this Association for many years, but its action in this instance will require my own resignation as a public protest,” said Mr. Hoffman in his letter.
