Following a week’s stay here, during which he conferred with many officials of the State Department, Dr. Alberto Gerchunoff, the distinguished Argentine journalist, who is the son of a Jewish colonist, left today for New York.
Dr. Gerchunoff, who is a guest of the State Department, praised the kindness and consideration of his hosts. He will spend two weeks in New York before going to Middlebury College, at Middlebury, Vermont, to deliver a series of lectures on Argentine life and writers.
Before the end of his three-months visit to the United States, Dr. Gerchunoff expects to return to Washington for a longer stay, during which he will meet Secretary of State Cordell Hull and Under-Secretary Sumner Welles. While here, Dr. Gerchunoff had a two-hour talk with Congressman Sol Bloom, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives.
