All Jews in Laval’s Home Town Arrested; Negotiate for Emigration of Children

All Jews of Clermont Ferrand, the home town of Pierre Laval, head of the French Government in Vichy, have been arrested, it was reported here today.

At the same time it became known here today that Jewish leaders in Vichy have resumed negotiations with the Laval administration to permit the emigration of 1,000 Jewish children from France to Argentine. The Argentine Government has promised to admit them, providing they are allowed to leave France and receive transit visas enabling them to sail either from a Spanish or Portuguese port.
