Gestapo Arrests Alsatian Jews in Paris on Charges of Working with Underground

A large number of Alsatian Jews were arrested in paris this week by the Gestapo on charges of “working against the Reich” by participating in underground organizations, it is reported here today. The Gestapo captured the Jews when they surrounded a private residence on the Avenue Le Clere and placed machine guns at all exits.

Another report from France states that Tristan Bernard, French playwright and humorist, has been arrested at Cannes. M. Bernard, who is 77, had been living at Cannes since the surrender of France, but was not molested while the district was held by the Italians.
