Leading contemporary Hebrew writers will be asked to contribute to a volume on the late poet, Dr. Saul Tschernichovsky, which will be issued jointly by the Jewish Agency and the Bialik Foundation, it was announced today at the 11th national conference of Hebrew writers.

The Keren Hayesod, it was also announced, will help to finance the establishment of a “Tschernichovsky House” where writings, original manuscripts and other personal effects of the noted poet will be on view. David Shimonovitz, president of the conference, opened the proceedings by eulogizing several Hebrew and Yiddish writers who have died in the past year or so, including S. Rosenfeld, A. Goldberg, Z. H. Masliansky and Prof. Moses Schorr.

Abel Pann, well known Jewish painter, has proposed here that a “pictorial encyclopedia,” which will aim at presenting Jewish history through portraits of outstanding Jewish personalities of earliest times to the present, be published here. Each portrait would be accompanied by a short descriptive text in Hebrew and in the language of the country where the encyclopedia is to be distributed.
