The London press reports today that a Jewish General named Gutt, who was formerly an officer in the Polish army, is now leading a well-equipped Jewish guerilla unit of 3,000 men which is fighting in the rear of the German army in occupied Poland.

The unit fights under both the Polish and the Jewish flags. It is credited with killing more than 5,000 German officers and men in addition to Gestapo officials. It is equipped with machine-guns and artillery and has its own field hospital. The unit was organized two years ago with a nucleus of twenty men. Jews joining it take an oath that they will commit suicide rather than surrender to the Germans.

Jewish organizations in England are watching with great interest the preparations being made by Allied representatives for a special conference in London to discuss the citizenship status of Polish and other nationals serving in the British armed forces. It is estimated that several hundred Polish Jews are at present enrolled in the British army, in addition to those serving in the Polish armed forces in Britain.
