Forty-four Jewish Writers in Russian Army Reported Killed and Missing

Of about 100 Jewish writers who have joined the Russian Army, 24 have been reported killed and 20 missing, it was announced here today. The majority of them enlisted. Among the missing are the well-known Jewish novelist S.Gadiner, the literary critics A. Gurstein and M. Wiener, and the poets S. Rossin, Olevsky, Zeldin and Vergelis. The Jewish historian, A. Brachman, is reported missing.
