The real remedy for the problem of the Jews in Europe is the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine, it was stated here last night by Arthur Greenwood, British Labor Party leader, addressing a May Day meeting called by the Labor Zionist Organization. Conditions must be created which will enable the attainment of a self-governing Jewish authority in Palestine with the possibility of all Jews entering who wish to do so, Greenwood added.
The statement in regard to Palestine which is to be issued at the Labor Party’s conference opening on May 29 will be only “a continuation and logical conclusion of the previous policy of the party,” Greenwood continued. “Our intention is to support the establishment of a Jewish national home and to allow the Jews to immigrate there until they are a majority. This must not mean, however, the expulsion of the Arabs. I am not against the Arabs, and there ought to be no hostility between Jews and Arabs or Arabs and Englishmen.” The Labor party leader also paid tribute to the heroismof the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto.
