1,300 Communities Increase Their Allotments to United Jewish Appeal

Of the 3,250 Jewish communities participating in campaigns in the first half of the year, a record-breaking total of 1,300 communities in various parts of the country, which have thus far advised the United Jewish Appeal of their 1944 allotments, have voted substantially increased amounts to the $32,000,000 combined nation-wide drive, it was announced here today by the U.J.A.

On the basis of allotments reported to date, it is conservatively estimated that 97 percent of all communities engaged in Spring campaigns will give greater sums to the U.J.A. this year. Leading communities throughout the land increased by from 50 to 100 percent the funds allocated for the relief, rescue, and reconstruction activities of the Joint Distribution Committee, United Palestine Appeal, and National Refugee Service.
