The establishment of a “national home for the Jewish people” within a Greater Syria composed of Palestine, Syria, Transjordan and Lebanon is advocated by the London Times in an editorial today.
“No solution of the Arab-Jewish problem,” the editorial says, “can satisfactorily divorce Palestine either from her immediate neighbors or from her natural hinterland. The pan-Arab conference, if successful, may thus do something to solve one of the must difficult questions of the day.” The article admits, however, that the pan-Arab project to reunite Syria, Lebanon, Transjordan and Palestine into a Greater Syria is at present a remote “dream” that would require leadership of high order for its successful accomplishment.
